Makhana ki Kheer

Makhanas is rich in protein and calcium; together with low fat milk it makes a creamy and yummy sweet. Makhanas has no flavour of its own but nutmeg and saffron adds flavor and a mild taste. Here we provides a simple and easy Makhana ki Kheer recipe.

  • Preparation Time : 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time : 5-7 minutes
  • Servings : 4
  • ANANDA DOUBLE TONED MILK 5 cups
  • Lotus seeds (makhanas)1 cup
  • Sugar substitute1 tbsp
  • Nutmeg (jaiphal) powder1/4 tsp
  • Strands saffron (kesar)3 to 4
  • ANANDA GHEE1 tsp
  • For the garnish
  •  Pistachio slivers2 tsp

Method

Heat the ghee in a pan; add the makhanas and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes till they are crisp.

Remove from the fire and crush them slightly.

Heat the milk in a non-stick pan and when it comes to a boil, add the crushed makhanas and simmer for about 1 to 2 minutes.

Add the sugar substitute, nutmeg powder and saffron and mix well remove from the flame.

Serve hot garnished with pistachios.
